It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Bike riding and aqua park

The Explorers completed their cycle around the lake, complete with lunch delivered by boat. Scouts enjoying windsurfing and all earned their pulling badge. The aqua park later in the evening was great fun too.

Today we are back on the water sailing and rowing but off slightly early for our Christmas party

Water pictures

More water sessions yesterday followed by pork kebabs and bread & butter pudding. Lots of tired Scouts and Explorers after being on the water from 9am to 7pm.

Today the explorers are off cycling around the lake, we're going to meet them half way at lunchtime with some sandwiches. The scouts are having windsurfing lessons and doing their rowing (pulling) badge. This evening we are on the aqua park and already looking forward to hunters chicken afterwards.

Here are some water pictures...

Leaders and scouts are up and the smell of sausages is threatening to draw the explorers out of their tents...

A full day on the water is planned with rowing and sailing for everyone.

Here are a few pics of what the morning looks like...

It's started

Actually Summer Camp 2016 all started on the August bank holiday weekend last year when we went to look for a suitable campsite. Now however it's really started.

This last week has seen bearings replaced on road trailers, toppers and topaz all re rigged and loaded, patrol tents taken out and checked, benches mended, water sessions and menus planned, 300 cable ties bought and shopping started. Now we're off to load the vans.

It's a smaller camp this year than last year with 30 Scouts / Explorers and about 20 helpers. Rutland water sports centre are working with us, letting us use their campsite and launch the boats. We even have use of their showers... It should be a great week!
